Resident Support Services Coordinator – Temp to Hire – Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm

The Resident Support Service Coordinator (RSSC) position is designed to provide resident support for the Public Housing program.  This position will be responsible to provide short term limited case management and referral services to needy residents in public housing programs with budgetary, mental & physical health, meals, personal hygiene, medical intervention, social, familial, housekeeping, transportation, nutrition, and other services as identified by staff, the Fremont Police Department and other assistive agencies.  In addition, the Resident Support Services Coordinator position will be the community outreach person responsible to attend community functions and forums such as the Northeast Nebraska Continuum of Care (COC) and Dodge County Collaborative Team (DCCT) meetings held regularly in the area and will be the liaison between the community agencies partners with  for support services such as Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging, Workforce Development, Life House, Fremont Area Medical Center and medical and mental health practitioners.  In addition, the Coordinator position will provide education and public relations for the organization by speaking (or arranging for other staff or partners to speak) at events, and represent the company at any function that would enhance the image and relationship with the community for the organization.  The RSSC position will also act as activity coordinator for the public housing residents and attempt to organize the residents into an active and constructive body that can help further the organizations goals and help better meet the needs of the residents.  The RSSC position will be responsible to put together a resident newsletter which will be distributed to the residents on a monthly basis. This position will be asked to work closely with the Fremont Police Department and management staff to assist with residents who have underlying social problems.  The RSSC will obtain training in the Nebraska Rent Wise program and conduct training sessions at least two or three times a year to residents and interested program and community participants. The RSSC will enlist community partners to assist with this training program. The RSSC will assist with the HUD ROSS grant application process by compiling and presenting statistical data from the RSSC program on a routine basis as prescribed and assisting with development of the narrative and Logic Model for the grant application.   The Resident Support Services Coordinator will be responsible to monitor and administer the Community Service provisions for the Public Housing program.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Regular or intermittent meetings with residents who ask for or agree to assistance with        goals, objectives or problems
  • Follow up on referrals from program staff
  • Serve as a resource broker for residents who have specific issues that can be addressed by organizations within the community and provide follow-up to track effectiveness
  • Organize case management files as well as computer files.
  • Produce statistical reports based on case management of residents.
  • Provide a monthly newsletter to all residents
  • Attend local meetings and forums designed to educate our agency and others about community activities, opportunities, organizations, etc. (example – Continuum of Care meetings, Dodge County Collaborative Team Meetings, Resource Fairs, Job and Business Expos)
  • Work with Fremont Police Department and current staff on specific resident problem
  • Act as the activity coordinator helping residents with informational, educational and social events, translation services, and services for overall better quality of life at the Towers and improve relationships and communication with the administrative
  • Encourage and assist residents to participate in the voluntary Meal Program to benefit their nutritional needs.  Track participation in program and work with Food Program Manager, Executive Director, SSAD DHHS to meet nutritional needs of residents.
  • Support Public Housing Staff with Community Service responsibilities and enforce and track the Community Service requirements of HUD for zero income renters.
  • Conduct the Rent Wise Training Program on a semi-annual basis with residents and promote community wide.
  • Set Up and establish a system for a resident available Computer Lab Station to aide in applications to DHHS, Workforce Development, Job Training, and other beneficial  entitlement programs.
  • Coordinate an active and constructive Resident Advisory Board and participate in monthly Resident Organization meetings as needed.
  • Communicate workload with appropriate staff
  • Provide, monthly, quarterly and annual statistical reports on assessments, activities, outcomes, etc.
  • Maintain the ROSS Standards for Success for tracking purposes and future grant submissions and meet the applicable core goals established by HUD.
  • Assist with ROSS Grant application and submission.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Executive Director or Housing Program Manager.

 DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent experience

Experience in Social Work field

Knowledge of Public Housing

Knowledge of Fremont community and care network

Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with residents, landlords, vendors and the

general public.

Ability to put together a regular newsletter including skilled application of Microsoft Publisher, Word, Excel, Outlook and email programs, and the ability to learn the PHA housing software.

Ability to produce statistical reports on case management of residents

Self starter who needs little oversight and can work independently

Positive attitude to promote all the good things that the company does for its residents

Ability to work alone or with a group to solve complicated social and personal familial problems

Ability to communicate and educate residents, staff and the general public about the company.

Excellent organizational skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in social work and/or related field of study or equivalent experience

Valid Nebraska Drivers license and a good driving record.

Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with residents, landlords, vendors and the

general public.

Ability to put together a regular newsletter including familiarity of Microsoft Publisher, Word and Excel software

General knowledge of computer hardware and software, Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point

Self starter who needs little oversight and can work independently

Ability to work alone or with a group to solve complicated social and personal familial problems

Ability to communicate and educate residents, staff and the general public about the company.

Ability to produce statistical reports on case management of residents.
